ToneMaker DJ is another nifty mobile app where users can create their own customized ringtones. This one however, works directly from your mobile phone so there is no need to transfer any files from a PC or wait to receive a download link. In this application, all of the necessities are already loaded when it’s purchased. There are three different ways to create your ringtone using the TMDJ. These are Auto, Step and Jam and they work fairly similar; it’s just a matter as to how much effort you want to put into your creation. In Auto, the ringtone is automatically mixed for you. Step has you putting together the ringtone using a wizard for step-by-step instructions. Finally, with Jam, advance users can mix all parts for their unique ringtone. A ringtone is comprised of sound loops chosen for four basic parts to create the final product. The four parts are Drum, Bass, Rhythm and Lead and each can be selected or changed according to the type of style you want to hear. Given that the styles range from Reggaeton to Pop to Dance to Crunk and many other genres, there’s plenty to be had. (TMDJ also includes featured artists like Biz Markie and Armageddon providing their own loops to use.)
Each part of the ringtone will be selectable by the user and a preview of the mix will be heard on-the-fly. This allows you to change the different parameters instantly, including Tempo, to get a truly satisfying mix. Once the ringtone has been created, you can choose to download it into your library or save it as your ringtone. There will be no charge to include it in your library but if you decide to save it as your ringtone, one credit from your account will be removed. (Note that when you purchase the TMDJ, you will initially receive a certain amount of credits to use for this.) The TMDJ also comes with an online Community Lounge that can be accessed to browse tones from other DJs and celebrities and rate their mixes. The ability to upload your own or buy others with your credits is included as well. This, along with the already popular online PC version at tonemakerdj.com, ensures that tones available on a large scale. Granted, you’re still using pre-made loops to build your ringtone, but for DJ’s everywhere, this is a great way to have fun while grabbing a ringtone or two. (view article screengrab) |
